Backstory: The West Seattle bridge connects the peninsula to mainland Seattle. A whopping 100,000 cars used to use it daily. Seemingly out of nowhere (make that actually out of nowhere) the bridge deemed unsafe due to rapidly accelerating cracking and closed entirely. The ramifications of closing such an enormous artery to and from West Seattle were barely felt initially, as, well, a pandemic was happening. Not many were going anywhere anyway. As things open up, my things have already changed. 10min commutes to SODO Seattle now take 30-40 min and getting to I-5 can at times be a 70min ordeal. And this is with a fraction of commuters back in the office. Basically what I'm saying it, let's send West Seattle some cheer. And wine!
