Supporting Clean Water Initiatives

When You Gift Wine, We'll Gift Water

You may wonder, why would we want to turn wine into water? Two drinks make up 90% of my liquid consumption. Water and wine. Only one of those is a true necessity for life. It's difficult to think that 1 in 3 people in this world do not have clean water or even a toilet for daily life needs. That is why we are pledging to donate to charitable organizations committed to providing clean water access to those world-wide.

Starting July 1rst, 2020, for every 1, 2, 3 or 6 bottle pack you gift, Wine for That (formerly Chipmonkey Wine) commits to donate $1, $2, $3 and $6, respectively, on a annual basis to water 1st international, a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

Why Water1st International works

International is a Seattle-based organization helping to provide clean water access to 5 main regions in the world: Honduras, Ethiopia, India, Bangladesh and Mozambique.

Their efforts move beyond the standard well system and focus on the piping of clean water directly into villages and even directly into homes. This important distinction means that women and girls no longer need to spend vast amounts of time to walk many miles to carry water back to their villages, often freeing them to work and attend school. Directly piped water also means the need to ration carried water for cooking only is no longer necessary. This is a huge game changer as water is now freely available for sanitary use as well.

Water1st helps to fund efforts on the ground by working with local partners and local people who are invested in the planning and executing of the pipeline building. They also work to make sure the infrastructures that are built are maintained.

The efforts of Water1st International and their partners has resulted in over 3,000 projects, providing clean water to well over 200,000 people through projects that are built to last!
